INVESTMENT: 3 VILLAS FOR SALE IN KAYAKOY

**IDEAL INVESTMENT** THREE VILLAS FOR SALE IN KAYAKOY

The village of Kayakoy is a remarkable location nestled into a deep valley just 8 km from Fethiye. The ruins of roofless, crumbling former Greek churches and houses lie across the hillside to the valley’s centre, now protected as a museum and attracting day-trippers and tourists from the neighbouring resorts. There’s a lovely selection of traditional BBQ restaurants and local cafes, plus a growing number of boutique villas and residences springing up in the area – all low rise and tastefully built due to the strict development laws that apply to the village.

These villas for sale in Kayakoy lie a short cycle/drive from the village centre and the ruins. Built in 2019, they are of a modern, one-storey bungalow design and have been tastefully built using natural stone and wood to blend into the setting. The villas sit in a row, on good-sized walled and gated plots, each with a large garden and private pool. The villas are furnished, fully air-conditioned, have solar water heating and are of a similar interior design. They include the following:

The Living Area: These bungalow-style villas have a large lounge and dining area with floor to ceiling windows and doors opening on to a shaded dining terrace by the pool – the ideal place to enjoy alfresco meals and take in the wonderful mountain and valley views.

The Kitchen: A generous modern kitchen with all the mod cons lies to the side of the building with access to the poolside and grounds.

Bedrooms: All three bedrooms (2 x double, 1 x twin) are a good size with en-suite facilities. The master contains a jacuzzi bath.

Each of the villas plot size is 980m2

ABOUT KAYAKOY

Kayakoy is a historic village often referred to locally as “the ghost town”. Tucked into a beautiful green valley between Oludeniz and Fethiye, it once homed a thriving Anatolian Greek community until a forced population exchange in 1923 left the town abandoned.

A visit to Kayakoy will likely mesmerise you. It is a location that feels a world away from the busy tourist resorts of Hisaronu, Oludeniz and Fethiye, and all reached within a 20-minute drive or bus ride. The ruins consist of hundreds of roofless, crumbling old stone houses stretching up the hillside connected by narrow stone lanes. There are the remains of churches, schools and chapels, all lying in various states of disrepair and giving a fascinating insight into the past. It’s said over 6,000 people once lived in Kayakoy, and as you walk around you can imagine how they once lived. The ruins of Kayakoy are extraordinary, and the area does have a different, atmospheric feel. Thankfully, much of the valley is now protected, meaning strict building and development laws apply, and the ruins on the hillside are a museum.

Property development in Kayakoy is restricted, so the area does still retain an authentic village feel. It is an area that will appeal to those that want something different to your average resort setting, those that want a more tranquil property tucked into nature. There is a growing selection of tastefully built, boutique properties in the area, and the centre does have a good selection of cafes, BBQ restaurants and mini-markets so the essentials are all readily available. Local buses run regularly through Kayakoy to Fethiye and Hisaronu, and Dalaman Airport is around a 50-minute transfer away.
